The Echinacea Purple Coneflower, 'Echinacea purpurea', is a long lived tough perennial that withstands drought, wind and humidity and it is used for its suspected medicinal value. The Purple Coneflower has 2 to 3 inch long drooping petals that are surrounded with a purple/maroon/brown conical center, 3 inches in diameter. The flowers appear on tall stems above the foliage.
