Perennials Scabiosa - Butterfly Blue
Scabiosa Butterfly Blue It will do excellent for front-of-the-border areas, with Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam', Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', in mass plantings or as cut flowers. It is best to plant Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil and should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase its overall performance. With its gray-green foliage, it has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12-18". ‘Butterfly Blue’ is a reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. Deadheading after the first bloom will encourage repeat bloom time. It is also disease resistant. The Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue’, Scabiosa columbaria, also know as the Pincushion Flower, has wonderful 2" lavender-blue flowers that bloom from June to October.

Coral Bells Obsidian Like most Coral Bells, it thrives in partial sunlight but once established it will also grow in shade. Taller shoots of cream colored flowers appear on this evergreen variety in June. Plant the Obsidian with Coral Bells Lime Ricky, Marmalade or Peach Flambe for a fantastic color contrast. The Coral Bells Obsidian, Heuchera 'Obsidian' (PP14,836), with it's Jet Black leaves, has the darkest foilage to date of the Coral Bells. Use this coral bell as a ground cover, in rock gardens, as a border plant or as an edger along paths and walkways.
Coreopsis Autumn Blush Autumn Blush is a long blooming plant that has beautiful yellow flowers with a burgundy colored eye turning to all burgundy in the fall. It tolerates the heat and humidity extremely well and flowers best in a sunny location. The fern like leaves make a great contrast with the daisy shaped flowers. Coreopsis Autumn Blush looks great with any type of grass, in borders or mass plantings in sunny gardens. It should be cut back in late summer to extend the bloom period.
Daylily Rosy Returns Use for stand alone plantings, edging, in borders or in mixed containers and tubs. Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a good choice for any gardener. The Daylily Rosy Returns, Hemerocallis 'Rosy Returns' (Apps, '99,PP9779), is a dwarf variety that has large 4 inch bright rose flowers with a dark pink eye and yellow throat on green foliage. It can survive harsh conditions that many other plants can not and prefers full sun for the best performance. Rosy Returns will bloom from June until frost and may be hardy all the way to zone 2.
Hosta Revolution Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage and Revolution is no exception. A great choice for any beginner gardener. Revolution will tolerate shade to partial sun and should be planted in any moist, well-drained spot. The lavender flowers of this hosta appear on 20 inch stems, however hosta’s are not known for their flowers. It is considered one of the most distinctive hosta's to be released in years.
Hosta Guacamole Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage and Guacamole is no exception. Guacamole needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained spot. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and is one of the most popular landscape plants. The white flowers of this fast growing hosta bloom in late summer, however, hosta’s are not known for their flowers. A great choice for any beginner gardener.
Geranium Hocus Pocus The Geranium Hocus Pocus, Geranium pratense 'Hocus Pocus', has rich, sky blue colored flowers with darker veins and a lighter colored eye that begins blooming in early summer. It is a superb plant for cottage gardens, container growing, borders or informal borders in mass plantings. There is an attaction to bees and butterflies and it is very disease and deer resistant.
Salvia Plumosa The Salvia ‘Plumosa’, Salvia nemorosa, has glowing purple stems loaded with deep, double purple flowers that bloom from June to October. It has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-24” and stays in excellent compact form. Salvia ‘Plumosa’ should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area.
Salvia Purple Rain The Salvia ‘Purple Rain’, Salvia verticillata, has glowing purple stems loaded with masses of deep purple flowers that bloom from June to October. With its dark green basal leaves and aromatic foliage, it makes an attractive accent all summer long. Salvia ‘Purple Rain’ should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area.
Iris Butter And Sugar Iris ‘Butter and Sugar’ prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. This Iris needs plenty of water throughout the season to continue to looks its best. It can also be used in difficult banks and preventing erosion.
Leopard Plant Othello The Ligularia ‘Othello Leopard Plant’, Ligularia dentata, is a wonderful yellow-orange, daisy-like flower with huge leathery, toothed, heart-shaped, basal leaves.
Sea Thrift Splendins The Splendins 'Sea Thrift', Armeria maritima, has wonderful pink flowers that contrast well with its dark evergreen, tufted foliage.
Veronica Goodness Grows Speedwell Deadhead the flowers after the first bloom to prolong its bloom time.
Hosta Sum And Substance With a plant height of 36” and a spread of 60”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage.
