Alyssum - Oriental Nights

The Alyssum blooms all growing season. The flowers are very small at 1/4 inch deep purple blooms that appear in clusters. The Alyssum Sweet Oriental Nights, 'Lobularia maritima', displays tiny, rich, solid, deep purple flowers that make this low ground cover a delight. In mild areas, seed can be sown in the fall for winter blooming. In climate zones 9 and 10, they can bloom all year. They will continue to bloom until fall frost. Nothing adds more to summer days than the frangrance of sweet Alyssum. Plant them after the last average frost date in the spring. It is a wonderful annual ground cover. This plant is excellent in rock gardens, in hanging baskets, in the foreground of borders, and as a ground cover.
