Alyssum - Tiny Tim
The Alyssum Sweet Tiny Tim, 'Lobularia maritima procumbens', is superior to Carpet of Snow alyssum. The dense, compact dwarf plant never needs to be sheared. It is a wonderful annual ground cover. Alyssum blooms all growing season and can withstand drought and heat. Nothing adds more to summer days than the gentle fragrance of Sweet Alyssum. Tiny Tim flowers are very small, about 1/4 inch white flowers. The Alyssum blooms very quickly after seeding, usually in about 6 weeks. In climate zones 9 and 10, they can bloom all year. Tiny Tim Sweet Alyssum prefers full sun or light shade and rich, well drained soils, but Alyssum is not too picky and can withstand poor soils also. Plant them after the last average frost date in the spring. In mild areas, seed can be sown in the fall for winter blooming. Immortelle - Double Mix The Immortelle Double Mix, 'Xeranthemum annuum', provides shaggy everlasting daisies on long stems. They are essential for dried flowers bouquets and wreaths. The full, 1 to 2 inch wide fully double daisies, range in color from shades of pink, white, and purplish/wine. They are easy to grow and exhibit silvery foliage. The Immortelle begins to bloom in early summer and continues through summer. The Double Mix Immortelle prefers full sun and any well drained garden soil. They do well in dry, infertile soils. Plant in the early spring, 2 to 3 weeks before the last spring frost. The Immortelle is excellent for cut flowers, flower borders, or in wildflower plantings. |
