Ash Leaf Spirea - Sem
In July and August the neat, round shrub covers itself with creamy white blossoms. Sem is an improvement from older Sorbaria varieties. It is especially valuable for northern climates. It is elegant, space-saving, and beautiful! Sem forms a neat 3 to 4 foot shrub in the partly shaded garden, which adds a nice texture. Sem Ash Leaf Spirea, Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem' (16,336), is a pinkish-red, fern-like spring foliage that unfurls along deep pink stems . Compact, better-branched, and more dense than others, it creates a tight, bushy little mound in the garden, making a fine low hedge or accent planting as well as a shrub border. Spiraea - Van Houtteis Van Houtte Spirea is a durable and familiar shrub. Flowers are white in April-May, borne in many flowered 1-2" diameter umbels. Best growth occurs in a sunny location and any garden soil. The Spiraea Van Houttei's, Spiraea vanhouttei, has a foliage color of a dull bluish green. Outstanding deciduous shrub that is very showy in flower. The flowers are produced in spring after the leaves. The plant grows rapidly and may be used as a screen. |
