Astilbe - Visions
The Astilbe ‘Visions’, Astilbe chinensis, is a colorful feathery flower with raspberry blooms and lacy blue-green foliage. The flowers contrast wonderfully with the glossy foliage. Astilbe ‘Visions’ blooms in mid summer and are 15” tall and have a plant width of 12-18”. Astilbe ‘Visions’ is more sun tolerant, but is most successfully grown in a shady area. A moist, well-drained area is key for this plant. In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe can be used as cut flowers, in perennial borders or shade gardens with Hosta’s and Ferns. Astilbe is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds. ... more info
Peony - Lady Alexandra Duff The Peony Lady Alexandra Duff, Paeonia 'Lady Alexander Duff' is a double bloom peony with pink outer blooms and cream colored center blooms. Peonies are one of the best cut flowers and are often used in the Midwest to decorate gravesites on Memorial Day. All of our peonies are widely adaptable to most soils across the country. They bloom in mid to late spring and have very large, colorful blooms that stand out in the spring garden. Peonies can handle dry to moist sites, and do best in full sun but can handle some light shade. Often thought of as a plant used on the farm or out in the country, they bring a little bit of that country feeling to your garden.
