Bachelor Button - Sweet Sultan
If you like cut flowers, you must grow Sweet Sultan. They prefer average soils with moderate fertility and are tolerant to drought. Sweet Sultans prefer a full sun location. The Bachelor Button Sweet Sultan Imperialis, 'Centaurea (Amberboa) moschata', is a deliciously fragrant and an absolutely splendid cut flower. Sweet Sultan blooms summer into early fall, mostly during the heat. Plant the Bachelor Buttons in the spring 1 to 2 weeks before the last frost. The easy to grow and very fragrant 'Imperialis' is a somewhat taller and improved variety. Flower colors are shades of white, pink, purple, lavender, rose, red, yellow, and burgundy. Tomato - Cherry - Rainbow Mix Pole Tomatoes prefer well drained soil that is high in organic matter. Soak to depth of 6 to 10 inches when watering. Prune the intermediate tomatoes in order to keep a single stem. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Rainbow Mix is an intermediate tomato which means they continue to grow indefinitely until frost. In warm winter/hot summer areas, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for winter harvest. Tomatoes are generally started inside. Tomatoes need at least 1 inch of water a week. The rainbow of colors include orange, yellow, brown, red, green, white, pink with white stripes, and bicolor. |
