It is self-pollinating. This is the most cold-hardy highbush variety grown. Plants appreciate a good organic mulch. It is a great plant for ornamental use because of its low, spreading habit. Fruit size is small and has a wild berry flavor. The Northland Blueberry, 'Vaccinium 'Northland', has small dark blue fruit that has an excellent, wild berry flavor. Northland has bright green leaves that turn orange in fall. Prune early before spring growth. It is effective in shrub borders or as part of less formal shrub plantings in areas such as native plant gardens or open woodlands. Birds love blueberries so be sure to plant enough to share!.
