Castleton
The prunes are early and are a high quality blue plum, ripening a month before Empress. It is one of the best eating prune available. The Castleton prune fruit is of medium size that rarely split. Prairifire The firm fruits age to a cherry red. This red leafed tree has very attractive mahogany colored bark and persistent ornamental fruit. The Prairifire™Crimson Crabapple tree, 'Malus 'Prairiefire', produces gorgeous buds followed by long-lasting, single, hot pink blossoms. The tree form is upright, spreading, and becoming eventually round at maturity. The purple-red fruits are first to be noticed in late June and hang through early December. The new foliage is reddish-maroon, aging to reddish-green. It is probably the most disease resistant of all crabapple selections. The Prairifire is highly resistant to fireblight, scab, cedar apple rust and powdery mildew. |
