Daisy - Painted Robinsons Mix
The Painted Daisy is excellent as a cut flower. Another common name for the Painted Daisy is Pyrethrum. Some fall bloom may be possible if plants are cut down to just above the ground level after the initial bloom. They bloom in the spring to early summer for 2 to 4 weeks. Plant in the spring, 2 weeks before the average last frost date or in the summer up to 2 months before the first fall frost. The single and double 3 inch, daisy-like flowers are pink, red, and white with yellow centers. Painted Daisy prefer light, rich, and well drained soils that should be kept moist but not soggy. The Robinsons Blend Daisy prefers full sun except in very hot climates where light afternoon shade is recommended. It's hard to believe that flowers this bright and dramatic come from a perennial plant. The Brocoverde are a green headed, semi-domed cauliflower with 1 pound heads. The taste is quite sweet, and Brocoverde takes the spring heat better than regular cauliflower, thus making spring plantings more successful in northern climates. Either raw or lightly steamed, you will love the flavor of Brocoverde. Harvest the heads when buds are tight by cutting the stalk below the head. Late summer planting is recommended in hot summer areas or short spring areas. Plant in the early spring, 1 to 2 weeks before the last frost or late summer, 12 weeks before the first frost for fall harvest.
