Eggplant - Black Beauty
Eggplant prefers rich, deep, loose soils with large amounts of organic material. Plant in the spring, 3 to 4 weeks after the last average frost date. If nighttime temperatures drop below 60 degrees, the fruit will not set. Aster - Tall Matsumoto It will provide an "end-of-the-season pick-me-up" with its dazzling, radiant, medium sized flowers. Add compost to improve marginal soil quality. The Tall Matsumoto blooms from mid to late summer up to the first hard fall frost. This plant is excellent as a cut flower and the bright colors look great in any border. The 2 inch wide flowers have white petals tipped bright pink with contrasting yellow centers. The plants require average water and they do not like to dry out. The Aster Tall Matsumoto, 'Callistephus chinensis', is a florist quality cut flower variety with tall, strong stems and an unusual bi-color flower with a yellow center.
