Grass - Little Bluestem

A great plant for mass plantings. It can reach up to 3-4' and has a blueish hue to the leaves. The Grass 'Little Bluestem', Schizachyrium scoparium, is a native American prairie grass. The leaves turn a rich orangy wheat color in fall. It is also know as "Sagegrass" or "Beard grass'. It provides cover and feeding sites for quail, turkeys and other ground nesting birds. It will tolerate poor soils. There is a single, white,hairy flower cluster at the tip of each stalk. Mullein - Snow Maiden Removing spent flowers to encourage additional bloom time. Verbascum will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but must have good drainage or it could be fatal. ‘Snow Maiden’ has a plant height of 3-4’ and a plant spread of 1-2’ and blooms from late spring into summer.
