Honeysuckle - Freedom

The foliage is bluish-green in color with a fine texture. Excellent hedge or background plant. Honeysuckles are easy to grow, vigorous, heat-tolerant, and nearly indestructible. The flashy and fragrant flowers will attract hummingbirds and butterflies all summer long. White tinged pink flowers in spring produce small, rounded red fruit in summer. Needs full sun for best effect. Its primary use is in windbreak and shelterbelt plantings and as a background screen in large areas. This xeriscape plant is quite tolerant to a broad range of soil conditions but prefers a loam soil. Its fruit is a bright red berry which provides a nice contrast with the blue-green foliage. Plant habit is somewhat loose without pruning because of its vigorous growth rate. Freedom grows 8-10 feet in height and width. Freedom Honeysuckle, Lonicera 'Freedom', is resistant to the witches broom aphid that attacks other Honeysuckle. Many honeysuckles will thrive in containers as well. ... get more information
