Lilac - Persian
This deciduous shrub has dark green foliage. A reasonably compact lilac for the smaller garden, and shrub border. The pale lilac flowers are fragrant, late spring blooming, abundantly produced on 2 to 3 inch long panicles. Dogwood - Coral Red To keep the size of the plant in check and to encourage the most colorful bark, remove a third of the stems back to ground level each spring. Tolerant of a wide range of soils, it produces the brightest winter bark when planted in full sun. The Coral Red Dogwood, Cornus alba 'Sibirica', has stunning bright red bark which adds color to the winter garden.
