Lilac - Thumbelina®
Thumbelina is suitable as an informal hedge or foundation plant. This lilac tolerates light shade, but best bloom quality and disease resistance occur in full sun. It is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun. Multitudes of medium pink buds open to very light pink blossoms that are the most fragrant of any in the series. It should be pruned as needed immediately after flowering. This rounded shaped lilac forms a wonderful small tree, with rosy-lilac buds that are wonderfully fragrant. Mountain Laurel The Mountain Laurel, Kalmia latifolia, is a native American plant. Water often during growth periods, do not let the plant dry out. It grows upright and has beautiful tough glossy foliage. Provide shade for the roots with companion plants or with mulch. To ensure that the Mountain Laurel you choose flourishes in your garden here are some tips: Plant high and mulch well. The buds progress into dainty candy like flowers in the spring (May though July). The plants will set buds as early as fall. Therefore, there is a need to protect the roots from too much heat and fertilizer. |
