Lily - Blackout (Asiatic Lily)
The Asiatic Lily Blackout, 'Lilum ‘Blackout’, has extremely dark red, almost black, flowers that produces 4-5 flowers per stem. The dark green foliage makes a great contrast with its flower color. ‘Blackout’ has a plant height of 36” and is one of the newest Lily’s on the market today. Cutting the pollen off the middle of the flower, not letting it touch the flower, will increase the bloom time on Lily’s. Blooming in mid to late June, ‘Blackout’ should be planted in full sun and in a well drained soil. Mountian Bluet - Bachelors Button The Centaurea ‘Bachelor's Button’, Centaurea montana, also know as Cornflower and Blue Bottle, has small thistle-like single flowers at the end of a delicate stem, being bright blue and very showy, with gray-green foliage. With a height of 24” and a plant width of 12-24”, it is an excellent late summer to early fall bloomer. Centaurea ‘Bachelor's Button’ is tolerant of cool winters. The gray-green, lance-shaped foliage add contrast to this plant. This plant knows no serious insect or disease problems. Use Centaurea ‘Bachelor's Button’ massed in border fronts, cottage gardens or naturalized areas. |
