Mullein - Bananna Custard
This low maintenance perennial requires dry to medium soil and should be planted in full sun for best results. ‘Banana Custard’ has a plant height of 2-4’ and a plant spread of 1-2’ and blooms from late spring into summer. Removing spent flowers to encourage additional bloom time. ‘Banana Custard’ can be planted in rocky slopes to add color, as a border plant or in cottage gardens. The foliage is light green, which adds contrast to the flower color. Verbascum will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but must have good drainage or it could be fatal. The flowers are bright and light yellow, making it different from the rest. Ginger - Wild Most of the flowers are hidden by the heart-shaped leaves that are produced. Try mixing colors of other groundcovers with ‘American Ginger’ such as Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’ or Houttuynia ‘Chameleon’. ‘American Ginger’ will do wonderful in rock gardens or as a border. The redish to green flower blooms on ‘American Ginger’ appear in early spring and continue into late spring. The foliage is shinny at the surface and the leaf stem is hairy at the base. The Asarum American Ginger, 'Asarum canadense 'American Ginger', is a wonderful ground cover that is grown for its foliage rather than it's flower.
