Potentilla - Dakota Sunspot®

Dakota Sunspot is a deciduous shrub that does best in full sun and will flower all summer if trimmed in late June or July, along with fertilizer and water. You can plant it with the assurance that it will live. Dakota Sunspot® Potentilla, Potentilla fruticosa 'Fargo', is an attractive shrub that has showy, deep golden 1" flowers produced abundantly all summer long. It can be used as a foundation plant, in the perennial border, in mass planting, as a low hedge and even as a specimen. It requires little, if no care once established. This is a compact shrub that will mature at 2 ˝ to 3 feet tall with a spread of 2 to 3 feet. It is compact and free flowering. Sumac - Smooth Sumac will often be found within the first year following fire. Usually in clumps of several to many individuals in a clone, rarely more than 25 stems in one clone. Growth is rapid. Fruit is important as winter bird food. This is an important deer browse species. Seed production is moderately abundant, and seeds are dispersed by birds. Smooth sumac is a short-lived pioneer, which reproduces clonally via root suckers. Lifespan is about 20-30 years, though clones can persist for centuries.
