The Rhododendron Haaga, 'Haaga Rhododendron', is a new, hardy, dwarf variety from the University of Helsinki, Finland. This dense evergreen shrub is a highly valued landscape ornamental. The large groups of showy pink flowers appear on even young plants. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil. The Haaga will begin to bloom in May. The Haaga is a very effective accent plant. Lilac - James Macfarlane Lilacs should be grown in fertile, humus-rich, well drained soil. The true single pink flowers bloom freely. James Macfarlanes are a elegant, hardy shrub which will make a colourful informal hedge, or can be grown as a specimen shrub or small tree. The Lilac 'James Macfarlane', Syringa presoniae 'James Macfarlane', blooms two weeks later than Syringa vulgaris types. The large clusters of deliciously scented flowers bloom in May and June and are attractive to butterflies.
