Sedum - Autumn Joy

The Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’, Sedum 'Herbstfreude', is one of the finest of all upright Sedums. The umbrella-like flower heads are pink and change to a rosy red in the fall and make a wonderful contrast with its green foliage. Blooming from August to September, it has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-24”. Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ needs to be planted in full sun in well-drained soil. It will tolerate most soil types and is drought resistant. ‘Autumn Joy’ is a great choice for beds and borders and excellent as cut flowers. It is an improved form compared to other varieties in its species. It has a plant height of 30” with a spread of 36”. Clematis prefers full sun but will tolerate shade in the morning in a well-drained area. It will flower more heavily if in full sun. It is best to avoid heavy pruning on this perennial until it is fully established. Clematis ‘Alan Bloom’ needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs. The tops of Clematis prefer full sun while their roots prefer a cool, shady area. It is best to heavily mulch the root zone to provide this cool, shady area.
