Sedum - Matrona

The Sedum ‘Matrona’ is one of the finest of all upright sedums in its family. Its sturdy, dark burgundy stems look wonderful with its gray green leaves, edged with a deep rose color. The umbrella-like flower heads are maroon to pale pink. Blooming from August to September, it has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 12”. Sedum ‘Matrona’ needs to be planted in full sun in well-drained soil. It will tolerate most soil types and is drought resistant. ‘Matrona’ is a great choice for beds and borders and excellent as cut flowers. Coreopsis - Zagreb The Coreopsis ‘Zagreb’, Coreopsis verticillata, is a prolific bloomer of bright yellow flowers that bloom from June through October. Winner of the 2001 RHS Award of Garden Merit, Coreopsis ‘Zagreb’ is a little shorter than the rest of the Coreopsis family. With a plant height of 15” and a spread of 12-18”, its delicate dark green foliage has an airy and delicate appearance. ‘Zagreb’ should be planted in full sun. It is drought-tolerant and tough but does need well-drained soil. It should be cut backing early and late summer to extend the bloom period. Coreopsis Zagreb looks great with any type of grass, in borders or mass plantings in sunny gardens. It is very effective in naturalized areas, rock and cottage gardens or wild gardens. No garden should be without it.
