Shamrock® Linden
It is best used for farmstead windbreaks, and park trees in open landscape areas because of its large size and spreading root system. The open branching creates a less dense shade. The Shamrock® Linden, Tilia cordata 'Baileyi', is a vigorous grower that has a broad conical form. The shiny dark green foliage develops a yellowish-green fall color. It requires full sun to light shade and prefers moist, deep, fertile, well drained soils. It displays fragrant yellow flowers in summer. It attracts bees when in bloom. Washington Hawthorne It has low water requirements and shows a high tolerance to salt and alkali soils. The Washington Hawthorne tree, Crataegus Phaenopyrum, is a broadly oval to rounded, dense, thorny tree. The tree flowers in early spring with a profusion of white blossoms. Plant 4-6’ apart in the row for a hedge. The foliage is a reddish purple when unfolding and gradually changing to lustrous dark green at maturity. Washington Hawthorne trees holds its fruit on the tree and it is an excellent wildlife species and can be used as a specimen, hedge or screen. After frost, the leaves turn a beautiful scarlet color. Fall color varies from orange to scarlet to purplish. Flowers are white and ½” diameter. Fruit is a bright glossy red. |
