Silver Maple

The Silver Maple tree, Acer Saccharinum, is a medium to large fast growing tree. This deciduous maple tree provides very dense shade. The species is ideal for wet bottomland sites and can easily recover from extended periods of flooding. The Silver Maple is often used in residential areas for shade because of its thick foliage and fast growth. Along with its fast growth, it may live 130 years or more. Its leaves are deeply cut and silvery white underneath. The wood of this maple tree is soft and can be damaged by severe winds or ice storms. Fall color is a golden yellow. Autumn Gold Ginkgo The Autumn Gold Ginkgo, 'Ginkgo biloba "Autumn Gold", is a male cultivar (which are "fruitless"). This tree can have a lifespan as long as 1,000 years. Ginkgo are not native to North America, rather they are indigenous to China, Japan, and Korea, where they may still exist in remote mountainous parts. The Autumn gold is grown in average, medium wet soil in full sun. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, including both alkaline and acidic soils and compacted soils. No smelly fruits with this Gingko cultivar.
