Snow in Summer

The silvery, mat-forming foliage looks great as a ground cover, in rock walls or between stepping-stones. One should sheer back ‘Snow in Summer’ after flowering to keep it clean and compact and to keep from spreading. The Cerastium ‘Snow in Summer’, Cerastium tomentosum, is a wonderful bright-white, star shaped flower that blooms from last spring to early summer. This easy to grow perennial requires full sun and will grow in dry to moist soils that are well drained. It may have the tendency to spread but has no serious pests and diseases. ‘Snow in Summer’ has a plant height of 4” with a plant spread of 6-12”. Jacobs Ladder - Brise dAnjou ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ needs to be planted in a full shaded area but will tolerate some morning sun in a well-drained area. The light violet-blue flowers open to bright yellow, adding delightful charm to its foliage. The Polemonium ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’, Polemonium caeruleum, has variegated, fern-like foliage and large, single, light violet-blue flowers. Do not allow it to dry out. ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ blooms from June to July with a plant height of 18-24” and a spread of 10-12”. ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ is attractive to bees and butterflies and easy to maintain. Try planting with Hosta ‘Francee’ or Polemonium ‘Bressingham Purple’, in mass plantings, in rock gardens or in an elegant landscape.
