Spiderwort - Shimmer Mixed
The contrast of the flower color and foliage make it a definite eye catcher. The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. Tradescantia ‘Shimmer Mixed’ should be planted in a sunny area, but they will tolerate some morning shade, with well-drained soil. Try ‘Shimmer Mixed’ with Geranium ‘Johnson’s Blue’ or Alchemilla ‘Lady’s Mantle’. ‘Shimmer Mixed’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies. The Spiderwort Shimmer Mixed, 'Tradescantia andersoniana', has compact and upright green foliage with large pink, lilac, blue, rose, mauve and occasional white flowers. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. PPAF. It will tolerate damp soil but should not be over watered.
