Cleome - Cherry Queen The Cleome Cherry Queen, 'Cleome spinosa', is a knockout. Plant after all danger of frost has passed. Cleome likes rich, deep garden soil,, and is somewhat drought tolerant. The flower clusters, 3 to 6 inches across, are a deep carmine-rose with golden buds. If they are grown in exposed positions, they may require staking.
