Sweet Bell Peppers - Chocolate Beauty

The Sweet Bell Pepper Chocolate Beauty, 'Capsicum annuum', is a sweet non-pungent variety that bears unique, deep brown fruit. Pinch off early flowers to encourage plant growth. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. The medium-large, smooth 3 and 4 inch lobed fruits matures green to a chocolate color and they are tobacco mosaic resistant. Transplant outside in the spring 3 to 4 weeks after last frost date. Blossom pruning will improve fruit size. Chocolate Beauty is an incredibly delicious sweet pepper, especially when they are mature and fully ripe. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Licorice In warmer zones this plant can also be a perennial. White Licorice produces small flowers that are insignificant and can be removed. This plant is an excellent choice for hanging baskets or mixed containers. The Licorice, White Licorice, 'Helichrysum petiolare', exhibits vigorous growth and elegant silver-frosted foliage. The Petite Licorice has fine foliage and is a compact grower. This plant will let you do a little to get a lot. Licorice plants are exceptionally easy to grow, requiring little fertilizer. Licorice do best in a well drained soil, either in beds or containers. It's especially useful in mixed containers as it tends to grow outward which makes a planter or basket look larger.
