Sweet Bell Peppers - Golden Bell
Blossom pruning will improve fruit size. The Sweet Bell Pepper Golden Bell, 'Capsicum annuum', produces a golden pepper with good fruit size. Arguably, it is the sweetest tasting pepper with nice, juicy, thick flesh. Plant in average garden soil with sufficient organic matter. Pinch off early flowers to encourage plant growth. They can be picked green or you can wait for the fruits to turn yellow for the sweetest flavor. The Golden Bell pepper is great for chili and salads and for just eating by itself. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Transplant outside in the spring 3 to 4 weeks after last frost date. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. ... additional info
Fuchsia - Golden Marinka Fuschia is one of the Hummingbirds favorite flowers. This Proven Selections plant blooms all summer long. The Fuchsia Golden Marinka, 'Fuchsia hybrid', is a heat tolerant hybrid. The Golden Marinka has lovely red flowers and golden variegated leaves on a mounding trailing plant. They are great plants for greenhouses, window boxes, baskets, homes, and flower beds. For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial. Besides patio planters and mixed container gardens, they do extremely well in beds and borders. Along with outstanding heat tolerance, they also feature upright growth habits, lovely single flowers, and fantastic colors. In many parts of the country (and especially if planted in a hanging pot) the fuchsia will require daily watering. Fuchsias do not like to dry out. |
