Sweet William - Double Mix
Sweet Williams bloom in late spring for about 4 weeks. The flowers colors are white, pink, rose, red, purplish, and bicolored. Sweet William prefers full sun and light sandy, well drained soil. The Double Blend is an attractive 18 inch dome of a myriad of beautiful flower colors. Shear off faded blooms and the plant may come back and bloom the following year. The 1/2 inch flowers occur in densely packed flattened heads, 3 to 5 inches in diameter. The Sweet William Double Blend, 'Dianthus barbatus', is prized as a long lasting cut flower and it fills the flower void between spring bulbs, but before summer annuals. Nierembergia - Purple Robe The Nierembergia Purple Robe (Dwarf Cupflower), 'Nierembergia hippomanica', is a wonderful plant either as a perennial in Zones 7 or warmer, or as an annual everywhere else. The Purple Robe is smothered with hundreds of dainty saucer-shaped flowers during the summer. In very hot summer locations, light shade is preferred. Shear into mound shape for continuous bloom. or in early fall if grown as a perennial. Purple Robes are used as an edging plant, in rock gardens, or in containers/window boxes. |
