Texas Red Oak

This medium sized tree may achieve a height of 30 feet or more and an equal spread. The Texas Red Oak develops a rather typical shape and form for the species, with a dense rounded canopy. The Texas Red Oak, 'Quercus buckleyi' is also known as Spanish Oak, Spotted Oak, Red Oak, and Rock Oak. The bark is thick with scaly ridges separated by deep, dark fissures. Goldenrain Tree-Chin. Flame They are lantern-like in appearance, form in fall. It does best in full sun. The beautiful yellow flowers, 2" long, in clusters 8-14" long, bloom June-August. Chinese Flame trees are drought tolerant and can tolerate poor drainage, poor soils, smog and temperature extremes. The deep, non-invasive roots rarely disturb sidewalks.
