Tiarella - Sea Foam Foam Flower
The Tiarella Sea Foam, 'Tiarella hybrid', also known as Foamflower, is becoming one of the most popular shade perennials on the market today. ‘Sea Foam’ has deeply cut fuzzy green foliage. No other Tiarella has a better contrast in the leaf color. The highlights of black and purple patterns make it what it is. Best of all, the coloration is more intense during the winter months, not to mention being lightly fragrant. Cream flowers appear in the summer; however, Tiarella’s are not noted for their flowers. ‘Sea Foam’ has a plant height of 6-8” and a plant spread of 14”. Tiarella will do best in full shade and need average to moist soil. Try planting this popular perennial with Lamium ‘White Nancy’, Hosta ‘Patriot’ or ‘Japanese Painted Fern’. Iris - Batik The Iris Batik, Iris x germanica 'Batik' has stripes and splashes of white on dark purple flowers. With a velvety texture and beautiful sword-shaped foliage, it has a plant height of 24”. Batik blooms in spring and is an easily grown Iris. It prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. This Iris needs plenty of water throughout the season to continue to looks its best. Batik will make a great addition around pools, ponds and water gardens, and for mass plantings. It can also be used in difficult banks and preventing erosion. They also make magnificent cut flowers and are resistant to deer. |
