Tomato - Ace

Ace is a low acid tomato for those who prefer such. Tomatoes need at least 1 inch of water a week. Yields are exceptional for such a large tomato. They may also be seeded outside after the last average frost date. Ace is an intermediate tomato which means they continue to grow indefinitely until frost. Soak to depth of 6 to 10 inches when watering. Prune the intermediate tomatoes in order to keep a single stem. Tomatoes prefer well drained soil that is high in organic matter. The 5 to 6 inch in diameter Ace tomato weighs about 7 to 8 ounces which is a decent sized tomato. In warm winter/hot summer areas, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for winter harvest. Tomatoes are generally started inside. The Tomato Ace, 'Lycopersicon lycopersicum', is an old favorite with excellent tomato flavor and it is great for canning. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. ... additional info

Mache Corn Salad - Big Seeded To harvest, simply cut off at ground level. Mache prefers fertile, moist, and well drained soil. The leaves can be picked off when they are 1 to 2 inches long. Mache is good for intercropping among larger vegetables such as broccoli and looks great with other greens. Mache Corn Salad is cool season annual. We chose the big-seeded Mache variety because it handles spring/summer heat without getting bitter. The leaves are so tender, they melt in your mouth. In northern climates, plant in early spring as soon as the ground is workable. This old garden green, enjoyed in the late stone age, contrasts nicely with the sharp-flavored greens in salads. In mild climates, plant in the fall for winter harvest. Great for both north and south gardens.
