Viburnum - Arrowwood
The fall fruit is a blue-black drupe, small, very attractive to birds which disseminate the seeds. The foliage is glossy dark green, fall colors are yellows, reds and purples. It withstands high pH, heavy soils and various climatic conditions, some salt tolerance. Spread is equal to height. The creamy flowers are not fragrant and they appear in early summer for two weeks on 2 to 4 inch cymes. The habit is dense and multistemmed with arching branches. An adaptable and hardy shrub, produces many suckers, which must be pruned back to keep the plant compact. Forsythia - Spectabilis The Spectabilis Forsythis, Forsythia x intermedia, is a showy border Forsythia that transplants readily. Withstands city conditions. Profuse, yellow, spring flowers are followed by medium green summer foliage. The profuse, yellow flowers of forsythia are considered by many to be the first sure sign of spring. Flowers will last for two or three weeks unless killed by cold. Suggested uses for this plant include border, specimen plant, and screen.
