Vinca - Little Pinkie

Plant this Vinca in the spring after the last average frost date. Little Pinkies can be grown as a perennial in frost free winter areas. It readily reseeds itself and is very drought tolerant. It blooms best when other plants are hurting from the heat. The Vinca Little Pinkie is used in containers, ground cover, and borders. Little Pinkie Vinca should be planted in well drained soils and in full sun or very light shade. Little Pinkie Vincas are especially useful for the southern or desert climates or hard to maintain hot spots near a concrete or reflecting wall. The flowers are 1 to 1/2 inch phlox- like pink blooms with a dark center. This plant is also known as devil's eye or sorcerer's violet. The Vinca Little Pinkie, 'Catharanthus roseus', is the perfect plant for that really hot and dry location.
