The flower heads are 2-3” wide, with a spread of 18-24” and a height of 24”. With the fern-like foliage, this Yarrow has an aromatic smell when crushed and makes excellent cut and dried arrangements. (Avoid heavy clays and moist, rich, fertile soils. ) Yarrow should be planted in full sun and is tolerant to hot humid summers. ‘Appleblossom’ blends well with other perennial flowers that exhibit floral colors such as white, pink, lavender, blue, and purple. ‘Appleblossom’ Yarrow is excellent for mass planting in perennial borders, wild gardens or meadow gardens. It is inclined to spread, so site this carefully. This Yarrow can tolerate poor soil conditions, but does best in lean, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil. The Yarrow ‘Appleblossom’ , 'Apfelblute' or Achillea millefolium, is an upright soft pink flower. For an attraction to butterflies, deer and rabbit resistant, one can’t go wrong with this plant. Spiderwort - Satin Doll The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. The Spiderwort Satin Doll, 'Tradescantia andersoniana', has compact and upright green foliage with large pink flowers. PPAF. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. Try ‘Satin Doll’ with Geranium ‘Johnson’s Blue’ or Alchemilla ‘Lady’s Mantle’. The contrast of the flower color and foliage make it a definite eye catcher. Tradescantia ‘Satin Doll’ should be planted in a sunny area, but will tolerate some morning shade, with well-drained soil. ‘Satin Doll’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies.
